NY Highways is seeking a Senior Supervisor to oversee the strategic delivery of our highways and construction works in Skipton and the nearby areas. What You’ll Do
As a Senior Supervisor, you’ll lead the operational delivery of highways and construction works, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards. You’ll manage teams, coordinate resources, and deputise for the Operations Manager when required.
You will:
- Oversee daily and strategic planning of works programmes
- Lead and mentor Supervisors, Depot Supervisors, operatives and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with IMS procedures, including safety inspections and inductions
- Manage budgets, performance and progress against targets
- Attend stakeholder meetings and provide project updates
- Respond to emergencies and participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota
- Champion health and safety and ensure accurate record keeping
- Support the development of staff, including Trainee Supervisors
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience in highways or construction at agent or supervisor level
- Graduate Engineer, HNC in Civil Engineering, NVQ4 or equivalent experience
- Traffic Management qualifications (TM1, TM2, T7)
- Working knowledge of highway contracts (ICE, NEC, JCT) and CDM regulations
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to undertake relevant training (e.g. SMSTS, Winter 6159 Supervisor Unit 621)
- Ability to work flexibly, including out-of-hours and in adverse weather conditions

About the Role
You’ll work on a mix of capital projects and responsive maintenance across a diverse portfolio of commercial properties. From emergency repairs to planned upgrades, your work will help keep essential infrastructure running smoothly across North Yorkshire.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a supportive team, delivering high-quality plumbing and heating services while ensuring safety and compliance at every step.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing and repairing plumbing and heating systems across commercial sites
- Responding to emergency callouts and participating in our out-of-hours rota
- Supporting capital projects and planned maintenance programmes
- Using and maintaining tools and equipment safely, including mobile towers and low-level access gear
- Collaborating with supervisors and stakeholders to ensure efficient job completion
- Contributing to project planning, including risk assessments and method statements
- Mentoring apprentices and junior staff
- Reporting progress using handheld devices and ensuring compliance with regulations
What We’re Looking For
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent experience)
- CSCS Gold Card
- Full UK Driving Licence

What you’ll be doing:
You will lead and coordinate a wide range of reactive maintenance activities, including:
- Pothole and patch repairs
- Drainage and sinkhole investigations
- Signage, fencing, and lining
- Emergency response and winter maintenance
- Traffic management and safety planning
You’ll manage a team of operatives and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You’ll also work closely with the Senior Supervisor to plan resources, monitor budgets, and mentor your team.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in highways or construction (Ganger level or above)
- Knowledge of traffic management (TM1, TM2, T7)
- Understanding of health & safety and quality assurance
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Willingness to undertake further training (e.g. Winter 6159 Supervisor Unit 621)

We are looking for someone with experience in the highway or construction industry to join our Seamer Carr, Whitby or Kirby Misperton depots as a Supervisor. Our teams are proud to deliver projects that matter such as revitalising town centres in Selby and Ripon, improving flood resilience in Thirsk, and supporting new schools and lifesaving initiatives across North Yorkshire, making a real difference in the communities we serve.
There are other secured projects planned along the East Coast and around Kirby Misperton that you can be involved in, which will see vast improvements made across these parts of North Yorkshire. You will be based from one of these depots, but there will be times when you will be required to work in other areas to support a variety of projects that NY Highways deliver.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Supervisor, you’ll take the lead in overseeing highways operations—ensuring quality, safety, and environmental standards are met across all projects. You’ll manage and motivate a team of operatives, subcontractors, and fellow supervisors, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Working closely with the Senior Supervisor, you’ll coordinate daily operations at the depot, including planning labour, materials, plant, and traffic management to meet streetworks requirements. Your strong organisational skills will help you maintain accurate site and financial records, monitor progress, and forecast spend against project plans.
You’ll also play a key role in developing your team—coaching and mentoring colleagues to build capability and support career progression across the workforce.

NY Highways is a Teckel organisation established in 2021. We are responsible for maintaining 9,700 kms of roads across North Yorkshire with a budget of £60m per annum. We have approximately 250 employees, as well as casual staff who deliver Winter duties, working from depots and offices throughout the county. Training is a key priority for us, and this is your chance to take the lead in developing and delivering industry‑recognised training that keeps our people safe, skilled and ready for the future.

What You’ll Be Doing as Lead Trainer
- Delivering hands‑on, practical training on plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers)
- Designing, developing and delivering engaging training sessions that bring theory to life
- Shaping our training strategy alongside the HR and leadership teams.
- Working closely with the training coordinator, managing a training delivery operation of a busy and dynamic organisation, ensuring training compliance and safety.
- Creating quality and effective training materials and methods that meet learning objectives, industry standards and inspire confidence
- Driving a commercial training offer that brings in revenue and builds our reputation
- Managing resources, budgets, and people to keep the Training Centre running smoothly
