Location: Wykeham Church of England School
Contract: Fixed-term for 12 months initially
Hours/ Working Pattern: 15 hours per week (minimum), 09:00-12:00, Monday-Friday, TTO
Salary/ Hourly Rate: Band C, Scale point 4, £12.00 per hour

Our opportunity
A General Teaching Assistant position has opened at Wykeham Church of England VC School. You will be working closely with the class teacher with all facets of classroom support.
Located in the village of Wykeham on the North Yorkshire moors just 6 miles from Scarborough, the school offers quaint countryside charm. Wykeham works closely with its partner school, Hackness, as part of the Hackness & Wykeham Church of England School’s Federation. This collaborative, supportive structure reflects our attitudes, we are a smaller school with a caring, supportive ethic.
Our requirement
We are looking for a confident, personable General Teaching Assistant to support the class teacher and other staff in delivery of lessons. EYFS/KS1 level experience is essential. In particular, we require a candidate who has/is:
  • An enthusiastic and hard-working team player
  • Prior experience of working as a general teaching assistant or working with children
  • Motivated, positive with a can-do attitude
  • Committed to high-standards and expectations
  • Resilient and flexible
  • Personable with a good sense of humour
  • Willing to support the Christian ethos of the school
  • A clear understanding of the EYFS/KS1 curriculum would be an advantage
  • Phonics teaching experience and knowledge
