As a member of the External Works management team, you will be part of a key team managing the delivery of projects.

About the Role:

As a Project Coordinator/Site Manager, you will utilise your operational management experience and site planning expertise across a variety of highway schemes in North Yorkshire. Your ability to supervise and coordinate projects, from planning to handover, will ensure the highest standards in quality, budget control, and safety compliance.

You will confidently develop work programmes, manage resources, and work closely with the Commercial Team to create efficient project schedules. Your keen attention to detail in reviewing project documents and developing risk registers will be crucial as you oversee both subcontractors and internal teams.

Strong communication skills will enable you to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and third parties, fostering positive relationships and addressing complex issues with professionalism.

Your skills with numbers will be key to monitoring project costs and managing supply chains, ensuring projects are delivered on time.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or HNC, or NVQ4, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Experience in Highways or Construction as a Site Engineer or equivalent

About the Role:

As an External Works Senior Supervisor, you will lead a skilled team of Gangers, Craftspeople, and Operatives. You will also manage subcontractors to deliver highways external works across North Yorkshire on time and within budget.

Working primarily on-site, you'll play a pivotal role in developing and managing work programmes, delivering the project and ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety compliance. You’ll oversee Integrated Management System procedures, maintain Health and Safety plans, and collaborate closely with partner organisations and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will also include contributing to the initial programme development, managing daily resources such as materials, plant, and labour, and providing regular updates on project progress and spending.

This is a key opportunity for someone looking to make a significant impact on major infrastructure projects across North Yorkshire and joining a committed and passionate team of highways professionals.

About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day setting out of works using advanced tools such as GPS-enabled EDMs.

You will ensure that all activities adhere to CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations, and that Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures are thoroughly implemented. This includes conducting safety and site inspections, delivering site inductions, and offering constructive feedback and solutions where necessary.

You will support the Senior Supervisor and Site Manager to ensure works are delivered to time, quality and budgets.

This is a crucial role for ensuring the successful delivery of our projects, requiring a proactive approach and a keen eye for detail.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, or HNC, or NVQ4, or equivalent experience
  • Qualified or Trained in Site Engineering (Setting Out)
  • Experience in Highways or Construction as a Site Engineer or equivalent

We are looking for someone with experience in the highway or construction industry to join our Boroughbridge Depot as a Ganger. The Boroughbridge team are proud to offer their services to the largest county in the UK and are dedicated to contributing to our local community and the preservation of the natural beauty and history of the area.

 

The team recently completed approximately 48,000sqm of resurfacing works on high profile roads, including large patching and full width resurfacing, allowing residents and visitors safer travel along the area.  There are other projects in the pipeline, that you can be involved in that will see vast improvements made across Boroughbridge and the surrounding areas.

As a Ganger, you will

Lead and direct a minimum 4-person team, overseeing maintenance and construction works across our sites across beautiful North Yorkshire. Acting as a mentor, you will coach and support your colleagues and offer developmental opportunities to strengthen and upskill your team.

 

Other responsibilities include ensuring works are completed to specification and on schedule, managing supply chain partners, and conducting a range of skilled tasks such as installing kerb lines, drainage repairs, and footway construction. You'll also handle general maintenance duties, manage traffic, and operate relevant equipment for various routine and cyclical works.

 

This role involves participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies and winter maintenance activities, and therefore desirable that the successful candidate hold a current Drivers Licence with access to personal transport.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

·       Manual Handling

·       Abrasive wheels

·       Emergency First Aid

·       Safe Dig

·       Traffic Management TM1 and TM2

As a Highways Skilled Operative, you will:

Work closely with a Ganger to carry out a wide range of skilled tasks including kerbing, drainage installation, patching, ironwork renewal, street furniture installation, and more. You'll also tackle general maintenance duties like site upkeep, traffic management, and roadside verge maintenance and operate specialist highways plant equipment and tools to complete maintenance and repair work. This role will involve the driving and operating of vehicles above 7.5 tonne and carrying out vehicle safety checks.

This role involves participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies and winter maintenance activities, and therefore desirable that the successful candidate hold a current Drivers Licence with access to personal transport.

It is essential for consideration for this role that you have a current valid Class 2 Drivers Licence (Category C), as the role involves driving and operating Long Goods Vehicles (LGV).

 

To be successful in the role, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

·       Manual Handling

·       Emergency First Aid

·       Safe Dig

·       Traffic Management TM1 and TM2

As a Highly Skilled Craftsperson, you will

Bring your expertise in stonemasonry, bricklaying, resurfacing, and road marking to the table. From kerbing and basic drainage to more specialised tasks like installing street furniture and modular paving, you'll tackle a diverse range of highway projects and develop new skills along the way. You will have the opportunity to carry out larger scale and complex works within your relevant areas of specialism and will operate specialist highways plant equipment and tools to complete maintenance and repair work.

This role involves participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies and winter maintenance activities, and therefore desirable that the successful candidate hold a current Drivers Licence with access to personal transport.

To be successful in the role, you will have specialist experience in at least one of the following:

We are looking for someone with experience in the highway or construction industry to join our Kirby Misperton Depot as a Highways Skilled Operative or a Highway Operative with LGV.

The team recently completed several projects across the local area including resurfacing works of footways in Old Malton, drainage improvements and drain replacements in Thorgill and Starfitts Lane alongside carrying out investigations in known flood risk areas. There are other projects in the pipeline, that you can be involved in that will see vast improvements made across Kirby Misperton and the surrounding areas.

As a Highways Skilled Operative, you will:

Work closely with the Ganger to carry out a wide range of skilled tasks including kerbing, drainage installation, patching, ironwork renewal, street furniture installation, and more. You'll also tackle general maintenance duties like site upkeep, traffic management, and roadside verge maintenance and operate specialist highways plant equipment and tools to complete maintenance and repair work.

This role involves participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies and winter maintenance activities, and therefore desirable that the successful candidate hold a current Drivers Licence with access to personal transport.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have some of the following skills and experience:

 

·       Banksman

·       Manual Handling

·       Abrasive wheels

·       Emergency First Aid

·       Safe Dig

·       Traffic Management TM1 and TM2

·       Relevant Level 2 qualification in highway maintenance, or relevant work experience

·       Hold a HGV Driving License - City and Guilds Winter 6159 certification for driving and operating gritters or, willingness to undertake training once in post

Are you a detail-oriented highways professional with experience in site surveying and ensuring safety on site? We are seeking a Utility Technician to join our team, responsible for surveying sites and identifying underground services, hazards, and overhead power lines.

 

If you're confident in reading and interpreting complex utility drawings, and you can effectively communicate your findings to the wider team, we would like to hear from you. You will use equipment such as ground radar, CAT scan, and Genny, to conduct site investigations and testing, especially when clear and detailed plans are not available.

 

Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough site surveys before and during active operations, accurately locating, identifying, marking up, and recording underground services and overhead power lines.

 

Living and working in North Yorkshire is very rewarding, and we seek a candidate who can travel and attend sites across the County, ideally based in the Richmond or Northallerton area. Your experience in highways activities, combined with strong communication skills and IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, will make you a great fit for this role.

 

You will be provided with a company van for site access and work-related travel, so holding a current UK Driver’s Licence is essential. If you also have an LGV licence, there are additional opportunities for overtime and seasonal standby payments through our winter gritting and summer standby services.
