Salary: £24,027 - £25,183 pro rata, per annum
Grade: C/D, SCP 3-6 (Plus SEN)
Contract: Maternity cover, term time only
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (5 mornings, 8:30am – 1pm)

We are looking for a SEN General Teaching Assistant to work part-time to support a Year 2 child on a 1:1 basis, with a support plan for SEMH needs.

Experience of working in a school is essential.   Experience of SEND and/or working 1:1, ideally SEMH, would be an advantage.  However, more importantly, applicants should have a positive attitude towards teaching and learning and be fully prepared to complete any training required to effectively support the child.

This is an important and responsible position and it is essential that the successful candidates can demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a school setting;
  • Knowledge of child development, including social and emotional;
  • A commitment to understand the needs of the child and to develop knowledge and skills to support these needs;
  • High, appropriate expectations of both learning and behaviour; a desire to support children to reach their potential;
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to work effectively within a team;
  • Initiative and the ability to work in a proactive way;
  • Punctuality and reliability;
  • A willingness to support with personal care;
  • Ability to liaise with external agencies and implement strategies suggested.

Demonstration of the following is desirable:

  • Experience of supporting children with SEND, including SEMH.
