“Be the best you can be and let your light shine”

Our School

Lythe CE VC Primary School is beautifully situated at the heart of its local community, surrounded by forest, moorland and the North Yorkshire coast.

We have around 80 pupils on roll divided into four mixed classes, each with their own teaching assistant. Staff are supported by our Headteacher, Senior Teacher in Charge, and our wonderful team of office staff keeping everything running smoothly.

We are lucky enough to possess our own minibus which gives us good access to our local area, allowing us to make good use of the resources on our doorstep, such as our magnificent forest and beach school provision.

We have a clear ambition for everyone in the Lythe School family: our Vision is for our school community to flourish academically, physically and spiritually. We will shine as individuals and as a school family, going on to enhance the wider community and the lives of those around us.

The children of our school Ethos Group have worked to sum this up in a single, simple sentence that we use to guide and evaluate all our actions:

“Be the best you can be and let your light shine.”

Our Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced teaching assistant to join our team. This role is a wonderful mix of duties to keep each day fresh and exciting.

A Typical Day

You will spend your mornings conducting your ATA duties; supporting pupils to participate and engage in lessons and deliver learning activities for individuals and groups under the teacher's supervision.

Lunchtime means playtime! Your role includes midday supervisory assistant duties, you will ensure that our pupils safely enjoy their lunch and playtime.

On afternoons you will undertake your HLTA role which includes teaching duties, where you will deliver lessons across all four of our classes.

This role is ideal for ECT’s who are yet to secure a permanent role but wish to undertake teaching duties in a consistent pattern, or for teaching assistants who have completed a HLTA qualification and are ready to bridge the gap between an ATA and HLTA role by gaining experience in part-time HLTA responsibilities.

It is essential for candidates to hold a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant qualification or have Qualified Teacher Status to enable them to deliver teaching and learning activities to a whole class.
