General Teaching Assistant with SEN

Post Title: General Teaching Assistant (SEN) – 1:1 Named Child
Salary: GTA £ 18,509.00 (Actual salary incl. SEN allowance. Pay award pending April 2026)
Grade: GTA SEN is Grade CD / SCP 3 (with additional SEN allowance)
Contract: Temporary post to meet specific need of child
Hours: 30 hrs GTA SEN (8:45am – 15:15pm Monday - Friday)
Location: Hunmanby, North Yorkshire


The Headteacher and Governing Body of Hunmanby Primary School are seeking to appoint a dedicated, motivated and inspiring GTA (SEN) to join our small, friendly team. Under the direction of the class teacher, this post will support and improve access to learning for a Year 2 child with additional needs. This is a temporary position, which will remain in place while the child is attending and requires this support.

  • Has experience working with children, (in particular SEN children);
  • Be supportive, nurturing, patient and understanding.
  • Be able to develop positive working relationships with pupils, parents, staff and other professionals.
  • Be able to support in the delivery of high quality learning experiences for all pupils.
  • Have high expectations of learning and behaviour and inspire and motivate our children.
  • Seek to make learning exciting and a positive experience.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is able to use their initiative and work flexibly;
  • Is positive and resilient;
  • Be willing to undertake and act on relevant professional development and training.
