Early Years is the first step of a child’s school journey – you could be part of this exciting time!

Our School

Goathland Primary School is an attractive and dynamic school catering for children aged from 3 to 11. Originally built in the 1800s and extended in the 1970s, the school building is beautifully situated in the midst of stunning moorlands, yet only a few minutes’ drive from the main A169 Whitby to Pickering road.
Our small school, in a unique location with experienced, dedicated staff, is a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. Children are known as individuals and staff build excellent relationships with families. The combination of high expectations and individual nurturing means that children are inspired to do their best, resulting in great educational outcomes and happy children.

Our Opportunity

Our school nursery opened in July 2022. Being part of the Base 1 class gives children the chance to interact with a range of ages, which is beneficial to all and helps build confidence as well as providing opportunities for children to see and be inspired by the work of older children. Phonics and early reading are introduced gently and there is a seamless transition into Reception.
Under the guidance of our Early Years & Base 1 Teacher, you will ensure that children enjoy activities that stimulate and engage children’s interests and learning. Your role will help children establish the foundations for school life and instil a passion for knowledge.

Key duties

  • Engage with children to develop sustained, shared thinking, and promote the characteristics of effective learning, as defined in the EYFS framework
  • Prepare and maintain our learning environment
  • Carry out routine tasks to support the work of the Teacher, HLTAs and ATAs

We are looking for:

  • A professional who loves working with children and has a passion to see every child achieve their very best
  • A team player who recognises the joy and challenges of working in a busy village Pre-School
  • Someone who has the drive and ambition to achieve excellent results

We can offer you

  • Tailored support from our Headteacher, your fellow colleagues and development opportunities.
  • An opportunity to see the unique and huge opportunity that exists here at Goathland School. All the support, energy, and tenacity you will need is here for you to tap into.
  • A warm, happy school where we value our community ethos and have a philosophy of treating each other with kindness and respect.
  • Happy, enthusiastic, and well-behaved children who thrive in a safe, caring and inspiring environment.
