We are a primary school in the heart of Hinderwell village nestled between the North Yorkshire Moors and the incredible coastline. Our school includes a nursery and caters for children between the ages of 3 and 11 who are organised into two classes: Acorns (EYFS KS1) and Oak (KS2).
Our learning environment and education provision is second to none. Our garden school curriculum is getting our children outside into our incredible grounds, while our collaborative approach to planning with the other YEAT schools ensures that children are getting the very best in teaching and learning.
We make the most of the opportunities in our local community, visiting the nearby church and farms, as well as hosting community events at our school.
We are proud to be part of the Yorkshire Endeavour Academy Trust (YEAT) alongside Castleton, Glaisdale, Lealholm, Airy Hill and West Cliff in Whitby. YEAT is also one of 32 organisations nationally to be a designated ‘English Hub’ which delivers excellence in early language and phonics teaching in reception and KS1. At Oakridge, the impact of this support is clear in our early reading provision and in our rapidly improving writing. Oakridge and the wider YEAT Trust is highly supportive, plus our teachers benefit from a team of highly skilled Teaching Assistants that play a vital role in school life.

Our Opportunity
Our Acorn Class spans from nursery to year 2, creating a nurturing environment for our youngest learners. Starting in September, we'll welcome 9 children in Reception, 1 child in year 1, and 4 children in year 2. With a smaller class size, you'll have the wonderful opportunity to build strong connections with each pupil.
You will work closely and alongside with our current Acorn Teacher Miss Stone who is an exceptional practitioner. You'll also benefit from the support of two highly skilled and experienced teaching assistants: one serving as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) and the other as an Advanced Teaching Assistant (ATA), who is also a qualified teacher.
Our Acorn Class benefits from a very large learning area with lots of different spaces both indoor and outdoor enabling both whole class learning and learning focused at individual year groups.
Our children love getting outside and engaging in our Garden School Curriculum. Our children love getting outside no matter the time of year and in all weathers; our provision supports our youngest children become resilient and independent learners.
If you’re a teacher with a passion for early years and a love of outdoor learning, then we encourage you to apply!
