Attendance and SEN Administrator

Salary: £25,989 - £27, 254 pro rata per annum
Grade: E
Contract: Permanent – Term Time Only
Hours: 15 hours per week
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire, Barrowcliff School and Nursery


We are seeking a dedicated and approachable Attendance and SEN Administrator to join our warm and welcoming team.

About the Role:

This is a dual-role position that plays a vital part in supporting our pupils’ success and wellbeing.

You will:

  • Monitor and manage pupil attendance, identifying patterns and working proactively to improve attendance and punctuality.
  • Work closely with parents and carers, building positive relationships and offering support to overcome barriers to regular attendance, including face to face meetings and home visits.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and produce reports for senior leaders and external agencies.
  • Support the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) with administrative tasks, including maintaining SEN records, arranging meetings, and preparing documentation for EHCPs and reviews.
  • Be a key point of contact for families and professionals regarding attendance and SEN matters.
  • Provide pastoral care and supervision for small groups of pupils during lunchtimes, fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment that supports their social and emotional well-being.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Communicates confidently and compassionately with parents, carers, and professionals.
  • Understands the barriers that can affect school attendance and is committed to helping families overcome them.
  • Is confident using school management systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom) or willing to learn.
  • Has experience in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Maintains confidentiality and upholds safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
  • Demonstrates a warm, approachable manner when interacting with children, providing a positive and supportive environment.
  • Is resilient and able to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused when managing challenging behaviours or situations.
