What Our Team Has Been Working On

Our Building Services team has recently delivered a series of rapid‑response mechanical and electrical projects for Durham County Council, supporting their drive toward net‑zero carbon and improved building performance. Working across a diverse estate of schools, leisure facilities, libraries, and community buildings, we’ve managed everything from early‑stage feasibility studies to major electrical and mechanical upgrades.

Through the NEPO Mechanical and Electrical Framework, the team successfully delivered ten projects, including schemes at Consett Branch Library, Coxhoe Active Life, Copeland Road Primary School, Shotton Primary Swimming Pool, Delves Lane Primary, Villa Real School, and Rookhope Primary. These projects involved integrating renewable and energy‑efficient technologies such as solar PV, air source heat pumps, low‑energy lighting, fire alarm upgrades, and modernised heating and electrical systems which were all completed with minimal disruption to essential services.

Every commission was delivered on time and to a high standard, improving building usability, reducing energy consumption, and directly supporting the council’s sustainability objectives. What You’ll be Doing

You will be responsible for providing a variety of services including those relating to building pathology, design, project management, building surveys and contract administration as well as producing early design advice through to detailed electrical services design. What you’ll be doing as a Senior Architect

You'll liaise with clients and coordinate the design team, manage project-related fees, appointments, expenditures, and third-party engagements. Your role will involve producing Feasibility, Planning, Building Regulation, and Construction information, as well as creating schedules of work and specifications using NBS software. Other responsibilities include site visits for meetings, inspections, and surveys.

You will carry out designer duties in compliance with current CDM regulations, and act as Principal Designer for Building Regulations in accordance with the Building Safety Act. Additionally, you'll promote sustainability initiatives to help clients meet their carbon reduction goals, attend client and contractor meetings as needed, and ensure all work adheres to defined business processes, standards, and timelines.

What we’re looking for

RIBA Part I, II & III qualifications plus ARB registration with significant post qualification experience as a Chartered Architect (ARB) working on UK projects.
A RIBA Membership would be desirable.
Demonstratable experience across all RIBA Plan of Work Stages
Ability to work under minimal supervision and completes tasks using own judgement, supervising others as required.
Experience of working closely with other disciplines to produce coordinated deliverables.
A general understanding of JCT (Traditional / D&B) and NEC contracts is essential.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Applying your expertise in building pathology, design, and contract administration to deliver high-quality surveying services.

Leading projects with confidence, producing detailed plans, sections, and construction drawings using cutting-edge technology.

Working independently and collaboratively to provide innovative, cost-effective solutions tailored to client needs.

What We’re looking For:

A degree in Building Surveying from an RICS-accredited course, with substantial post-graduate experience.
Chartered Member of RICS or actively working towards full membership via the APC pathway.
Proven experience in preparing and managing planning, building regulation, and listed building consent applications.
Skilled in producing schedules of work and specifications using NBS software and other industry-standard tools.
A collaborative mindset with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and CDM advisors.
Willingness to travel for site visits, inspections, and client meetings as required.
Competent in project design and health & safety risk assessments in line with current CDM regulations.
Commitment to ongoing professional development through a structured CPD programme.
Experience in conducting building surveys and preparing detailed reports and Schedules of Condition.
A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to various project locations.

As a Bridge Engineer, you will work on a variety of schemes collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure they are both cost and time efficient. You will use your engineering experience in your day-to-day workload as well as continuing and developing projects, overseeing designs from feasibility to completion, whilst keeping in line with budgeted resources and finances.

You will play a key role in delivering a diverse and challenging portfolio of bridge and structural projects. Your responsibilities will include undertaking general and principal Inspections, carrying out structural assessments across a range of bridge types, from small spans to multi-span masonry arches, steel composite decks, and box culverts.

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:

Hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience as a Bridge Engineer.
Experience working on new bridge, modifications and/or maintenance projects under the supervision of senior bridge engineers
Innovative and creative delivery of services.
Good interpersonal skills.
Able to work both as part of a team and individually.
Excellent communication and presentational skills (written and verbal).
Have experience in working on small to large sized projects and undertaking concept and detailed design reviews.
Proficient in the use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
An understanding and appreciation for project programmes and budget constraints
Be IT proficient, including the use of Microsoft packages

Conversant with analysis and design software packages, such as STAAD, MIDAS, LUSAS, Autodesk SBD etc.

Align Property Partners are seeking a passionate Bridges CAD Technician with experience in the production of detailed technical drawings.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team of Bridge Engineers working closely within the company’s turn-key multi-disciplinary services, including Highways, Building & Quantity Surveyors, Civil and Structural Engineers.

What you'll be doing:

You'll be responsible for producing high-quality CAD drawings and technical documentation for bridge projects, while also supporting a range of civil infrastructure schemes as required. All work will be completed according to Align's CAD standards and procedures.
Preparation of drawings including sketches and detailed construction drawings, using Autodesk Civil 3D.
Reviewing drawings to ensure compliance with Align's drafting standards.
Take responsibility for CAD tasks as directed by the Senior Engineers.
Comply with Health & Safety and hold a strong understanding of CDM regulations.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, helping the team consistently meet and exceed targets.
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams.
Autodesk ACC or Bently ProjectWise experience would be advantageous.

What we're looking for:

Technician Member (EngTech ICE) or working towards.
HND / HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with substantial experience working within an engineering design consultancy or Local Authority.
Experience working on new bridges or bridge modifications and / or maintenance projects under the supervision of senior bridge engineers.
Knowledge and experience in the use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
Proficient in the use of drawing packages e.g. AutoCAD
Computer literate, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Full UK driving licence.
