We provide a wide ranging multi-disciplinary building design consultancy, consisting of Architects, Building Surveyors, Project Managers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Structural / Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Property Advisors, CDM and Fire Advisors. Our focus is to provide services to both private and public sector clients throughout the North of England.

What you’ll be doing
As a Principal or Senior Transport Planner, you will lead on a wide variety of impactful projects for clients including local authorities and national park organisations across the region. Your role will span the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to funding and delivery. This includes developing active travel schemes (from initial studies to detailed design), supporting school streets initiatives, preparing Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans for new developments, and reviewing planning applications on behalf of local authorities. You will also contribute to business cases for national and regional funding bids and undertake transport modelling to inform decision-making.

What we’re looking for
- A numerate degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.
- Post-qualification experience within an engineering consultancy, with the ability to lead project delivery and provide clear, confident leadership.
- A proven track record delivering Development Planning work and/or active travel concept and feasibility studies.

- High level junction & highway design including adoption knowledge. It would be desirable to have knowledge of the regulatory system to ensure that designs and projects comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Knowledge and some experience of using engineering software tools such as Autocad, ARCADY/PICADY, LINSIG, TRICS, TEMPRO, PARAMICS and GIS and proficient in using Microsoft Excel. /

Working closely with our Graduate Transport Planner with a strong background in maths and physics and a talent for managing complex datasets, you will also contribute to the delivery of high-quality Transport Assessments across a variety of projects. As a Principal Highway Engineer, you will use your specialist engineering knowledge and experience to support members of the team as we plan project work and resources as well as providing support to the Team Manager on various design and maintenance duties. You will collaborate with colleagues across our multi-discipled workforce and our clients, from our Local Authority partners, North Yorkshire Council as well as private sector clients where you can share your knowledge as well as develop your own skills.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, with substantial experience working in this field.
- A proven track record in the application, principles, theory and practice of the specialist area of responsibility such as UK standards, adoptable standards and guidelines and specifications relating to the area of expertise
- Substantial experience within an engineering consultancy or highway management organisation
- A sound knowledge and experience of managing construction contracts in the roles of NEC Project Manager and NEC Supervisor preferably qualified with NEC3 or NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation
- The ability to lead and direct early career staff or oversee packages of work

Align is an expanding multi-disciplined design consultancy made up of Architects, Surveyors and Engineers who deliver building projects across the North of England. We are now looking for a Business Support Officer to join us at an exciting part in the company’s chapter as we take on new projects and continue to grow.
Working as part of a supportive and friendly team, you will apply your strong communication and numeracy skills to a wide range of administrative responsibilities. Your responsibilities will include onboarding new starters, processing leavers, arranging DBS and right-to-work checks, coordinating inductions, your role will also involve helping to prepare payroll information, issuing contracts, reviewing policies, and supporting office and financial processes. The role also involves system use, data input and analysis, as well as assisting with the day-to-day operation of the business to ensure smooth and efficient working, providing support to colleagues when required.
To be successful in this role you will be organised, motivated and able to work in a busy, fast paced environment. You will be confident in your IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access databases. You will have experience of working under your own initiative with an eye for detail.

We are an award-winning building design consultancy with exciting new projects coming up with our Partner, North Yorkshire Council. We are looking for an Assistant for Abnormal Loads to join us at Align Property Services within our Bridges team on a permanent, part time basis. You will join a dedicated team as we continue to expand and grow our portfolio.
As an Assistant for Abnormal Loads, you join an administrative team of 4 people, supporting the bridges team. The team are responsible for reviewing, accepting and the processing of abnormal load applications to ensure abnormal loads are transported safety across the North Yorkshire highway network. You will not need any prior knowledge in this area as full training will be provided.

This is a good opportunity for someone looking for a part time working pattern with flexible hours to suit you and your other commitments to be worked on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There may be an opportunity for more hours during peak periods, and to cover employee absence and holidays.
Full training will be given, with a positive attitude being more important than experience.
To be successful in this role, ideally you will have the following skills and qualifications:
- GCSE’s, preferably in Maths and English.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Be able to balance workload successfully at peak times.
