We are looking for an Assistant for Abnormal Loads to join us at Align Property Services within our Bridges team on a casual, part time basis with hours to work around you. You will join a dedicated team as we continue to expand and grow our portfolio.
As an Assistant for Abnormal Loads, you will be part of an administrative team of 2-3 people, supporting the bridges team. The team are responsible for reviewing, accepting and the processing of abnormal load applications to ensure abnormal loads are transported safety across the North Yorkshire highway network. You will not need any prior knowledge in this area as full training will be provided.

As an Associate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading a dedicated team of hydraulic modelers & engineers. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to build and manage their own team while benefiting from the support and guidance of the APS multidisciplinary group. You will be responsible for establishing best practices, driving innovation, and contributing to the success of our projects related to water systems and infrastructure.
You will use your extensive experience of this sector and your background in engineering to produce and run 1D/2D hydraulic models, Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Alleviation Schemes and Drainage Strategies on a wide range of schemes. Using Hydraulic software packages of your choice, you will work with our Engineers and Technicians to deliver projects that meet client requirements whilst providing technical support to others.
You will collaborate with your colleagues in the Structures, Bridges and Highway teams and provide hydraulic modelling for new bridge and culvert structures. You will assist the development team through river and watercourse modelling to determine flood zone boundaries for a wide range of sites, providing assessments and drainage strategies.

In this role, you will prepare all pre-construction information and present to the tendering contractors, review Construction Phase Plans ahead of any works beginning and ensure all works conform to the CDM Regs 2015. Your keen eye for detail will enable you to identify any hazards and issues in accordance with health and safety legislation and offer workable solutions to the design team to. You will coordinate and prepare Health and Safety files in relation to the projects and prepare and issue F10 notifications where needed.
This is a client facing role, and your approachability and excellent communication skills will give designers, contractors, and clients the confidence to come to you for advice on all matters reading the project ensuring all involved understand their role and responsibilities.
We will be delivering projects across the North of England, with the opportunity for you to travel to sites and oversee projects from design concept to completion.
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:
- Hold a recognised design qualification.
- Ideally have the NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate.
- Be a member of the APS / IOSH or equivalent professional body.

- Significant experience in a CDM Advisory / PD role and understanding of the construction and design processes.

As Senior Structural Engineer you will be an integral part of a very busy and professional team who have a record of consistently meeting and exceeding their targets and who have the passion and determination to improve their service continually.
From your previous significant structural engineering experience and knowledge of UK Standards, you will be able to deliver all structural requirements of projects from start to finish, producing designs from feasibility to completion and work within project timescales and finances. As a Senior Engineer you will interact with clients and contractors, attending design team meetings and resolving site-based issues in a timely manner. You will have responsibility for mentoring and supporting other members of the Structures team.

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:
· Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
· Demonstrates a significant amount of understanding and broad post-qualification experience in an engineering design consultancy.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

- Working knowledge of relevant UK standards, adoptable standards and building regulations
- Experience in the conceptual and detailed design of infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage and highway features
- Knowledge in preparing detailed designs and specifications using PDS and/or Civils 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage etc

We are an award-winning building design consultancy and 2024 is proving to be our busiest year yet. With exciting new projects coming up with our Partner North Yorkshire Council and private sector clients, we are looking for an Engineering Technician to join us at Align Property Services within our Bridges Structural team. You will play a vital part in supporting the team as we continue to grow.
You will support the Bridge Inspector on inspections and complete the relevant Health and Safety Risk Assessments. You will support in preparing documentation for technical, design, and specification reporting as well as creating contractual documents. You will regularly monitor progress of projects against budgets and report back on your findings.

To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Technician Membership (EngTech ICE) or working towards.
- HND / HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with experience working within an engineering design consultancy or Local Authority.
- Demonstrable experience in the inspection of bridges
- Experience working on bridge modifications and / or maintenance projects
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
- Proficient in the use of drawing packages, e.g., AutoCAD, to produce detailed technical drawings and models.
